SPUN - Spydus Users Network Inc. - is an association that aims to provide its members with channels to gather and disseminate information about the Spydus software system, to liaise with the vendors of Spydus (Civica) on matters of interest to the group, to liaise with other computer system user groups in Australia and overseas, to promote co-operation between members and other appropriate organisations, and to provide a forum for co-operative ventures.

SPUN Spydus Users Network Incorporated (in NSW) is a very active user group with regular meetings and an annual conference, its members are from all types libraries across Australia and overseas. SPUN membership is currently open to licensed users of Spydus, contact the SPUN Secretary for information on joining. |

The 2011 SPUN conference was held in Sydney from the 19th to 21st October.
Many attended this conference and found the topics to be inspiring. Presentations will be loaded onto the website in the coming weeks. A new feature this year was the focus groups. The topics for these were: Spydus World, Untethering, Boutiqueing and Community Engagement. Notes from these will also be on the website shortly. |

SPUN members continue to make good use of the Enhancements Forum. At the 2010 SPUN Conference it was explained that the Enhancements Forum is one of the areas Civica examine when deciding which areas receive developmental support. So have a look at the forum, vote for your favourites and add your own enhancements to the appropriate category. |

The current Executive Committee was re-elected at our AGM on Friday 21st October 2011 at the SPUN Conference in Sydney. The office bearers are:

For the second year, Civica Library & Learning have awarded a $5000 Travel Grant to an employee of one of their Spydus customers. Several proposals were received connected to the theme ‘A Lifetime of Discovery’.
The winner for 2011, Phil Minchin from Port Phillip Library Service presented his paper called "Stacks of fun: games, community, libraries, technology" at the Conference.
Phil used the grant money is to cover travel expenses associated with researching and presenting his paper. All staff are encouraged to consider applying for this grant.

This is the second time that Civica have offered the grant, and they are very excited about the program and what has been achieved so far.
